Product Profile

The Marietta Engine™ product supports application development for Symbol DOS-compatible hand held computers without C/C++ programming, such as the Symbol 3100 and 6800 units.

The application is described in a series of text definition files.

Menu Definition
Each application has a Menu Definition which describes the overall structure of the application within a nested menu system.

Screen Forms Definition
Each application has one or more Screen Forms Definitions, each describing a data entry and review session.

The supported form types are entry/insert, modify, review/inquiry, delete and browse.

Communications Session Definition

The import and export of files over a communications link are described in Communication Session Definitions. This can be either by direct connect or dial-up to a Procomm Plus host system.

Database Definition
Each database file has a Data Definition describing its fields and their characteristics, including scan mode and validation. This supports both ISAM files and data collection files.

Configurable Applications!

Each application created using the Marietta Engine™ product can be easily modified, even when C/C++ modules were added to provide special functionality!

Marietta Systems can also provide custom extensions to the Marietta Engine™ product to provide special functionality.

This facilitates the creation of configurable applications such as the MarSys Retail™ and MarSys Order™ packages, as well as a variety of applications available from our Resellers.

PC Emulation Mode

A full PC emulation mode allows software to be tested on the development PC, and is particularly useful for training users.
