START OF DELIVERY

The software automatically presents the next scheduled stop, based on the next unprocessed delivery on the route following the last delivery. A driver steadily working through the preset delivery route only has to visually verify the displayed name, address and other details before initiating the processing of sales and returns.

The software also supports other options for dealing with the real world complications of a delivery route, as discussed below.


CAN'T DELIVER!

The driver can identify a scheduled stop as non-deliverable, and enter a reason code why the driver couldn't make the delivery. The stop is flagged as suspended. Further attempts to deliver can be made until the route is closed, but the stop is no longer treated as unprocessed.

OUT OF SEQUENCE, OFF-ROUTE

The driver can select a customer by entering or scanning the account ID, or through name selection, or by scrolling forwards or backwards through the route list.

This process supports out of sequence deliveries, additional deliveries to a scheduled stop, deliveries to a suspended stop, or off-route deliveries.


RECEIPT ON ACCOUNT

This function allows a driver to accept payments on account from both on route and off route customers. The capture and tracking of these payments is discussed in another section.

ROUTE SEQUENCE REPORT

The driver can print a report of the route, in route sequence, to the truck's printer, either for the full route or just undelivered stops. Printing the customer's address is optional.

The driver can also view a list of undelivered stops on the screen of the hand held computer.
